Can a cleanser feel clean without feeling harsh?

The formula is organised as a system. Each part has a defined role rather than a decorative ingredient story.

Amino-acid cleansing base

Sodium cocoyl glutamate forms part of a milder surfactant system for daily cleansing.

Humectant support

Glycerin, propanediol and betaine support a more comfortable after-feel.

Replenishing co-surfactants

Coco-glucoside and glyceryl oleate soften the sensory profile and reduce a stripped finish.

Performance Testing

RENS Foaming Cleanser was screened for pH behaviour under three storage conditions and foam-volume behaviour over a 20-minute bench test.

pH Profile5.38–5.44

Recorded from day 0 to day 13 across no-test, 4°C and 40°C samples.

Foam Retention78%

Foam volume retained after 20 minutes, from 4.5 mL to 3.5 mL.

Foam Stability Index89

Total foam and solution volume retained after 20 minutes in the recorded screen.

The line graph compares recorded pH under three storage conditions. The narrow range supports formula screening context, not a finished-product stability claim.

Ingredient Evidence

The selected literature informs the formulation direction. It does not represent clinical testing of the finished product.

Amino-acid surfactant systemSodium cocoyl glutamate

Selected as part of a milder cleansing base designed for daily use.

Humectant supportGlycerin · propanediol · betaine

Supports water binding and a more comfortable after-feel during cleansing.

Replenishing co-surfactant profileCoco-glucoside · glyceryl oleate

Development Story

“RENS began with a simple formulation question: can a cleanser feel clean without feeling harsh?”

The development goal was not maximum foam. It was balance: a soft microfoam, a mild pH range, clean rinsing and a comfortable after-feel suitable for sensitive-skin routines.

During development, the surfactant system, clarity, odour profile, flow, foam structure and pump compatibility were adjusted through multiple trials. Each version was assessed not only for how it looked on day one, but how it behaved over time.

The final direction reflects the N°55 approach: restrained, barrier-conscious and tested for balance rather than excess.
